Films Still To Come...? - The Official Clive Barker Website

I worked for over a year and a half on an aborted attempt to adapt Clive Barker’s short story PIG BLOOD BLUES into a feature. When that fell apart, to be honest it put me into a pretty bad depression, and then my dad unexpectantly got sick and died only a few months later which made it worse. My personal life was thrown into a pretty big upheaval during that time. PIG BLOOD BLUES is now going ahead without me, albeit with some of my ideas in the final script for which I’ll be paid.
Graves Review : Vincent Pereira – News Askew
"I was going to make a 'serious' gay-themed horror film based on Clive Barker's Pig Blood Blues as my next project, but alas it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.
"The upshot is I'm going to take all the material I created on my own for my PBB script (and I did create a ton of original material to flesh it out) and construct an entirely new story around it, so all is not lost."
Set in a juvenile detention center, 'Blues' unravels a supernatural mystery involving, well, a possessed pig. But it's a helluva lot more detailed and disturbing than that. "To me, 'Blues' is a twisted take on a classic ghost story," DiBlasi proudly admits of the Barker tale he's devoting all of his creative energy to. "I love stories about outsiders and those kids at this juvenile detention center were certainly outsiders. It has this amazing 'Lord of the Flies' element with all these boys trapped together and this evil entity is stuck in there with them. Where the short story just touches on the supernatural element, I focused a lot on making it a ghost story. But keeping the pig, of course."

On the set of their latest effort, Dread, producer Jorge Saralegui tells ShockTillYouDrop.com that he has penned an adaptation of the "Books of Blood" story The Madonna which will roll before Pig Blood Blues next year. "We were looking for something to do between Dread and Pig Blood Blues. Our other projects that we have in development were not quite ready."
Producers Talk Barker's Madonna Adaptation – Shock Till You Drop.com
"the story is the male fear of their own female side. That's fun to do and in this film we've got a gangster who's all guy and starts to turn into a woman. He can't accept his own feminine side coming out. Whereas the other guy ends up going with it."
New Clive Barker Happenings: Latest Book of Blood Announced! - Bloody Disgusting.com
Anthony DiBlasi is currently in Montreal where he's about to unveil his Clive Barker adaptation Dread (set visit preview) to Fantasia Film Festival audiences. Up next for him is a take on another Barker property "Pig Blood Blues," but what hasn't been revealed until now is that he's also adapting Barker's "The Damnation Game" for Phoenix Pictures.
DiBlasi is writing the movie for Phoenix Pictures; no word on whether he’ll direct, and in any case he’s currently gearing up to helm yet another Barker feature, PIG BLOOD BLUES, late this fall in the UK.
...A feature film based around three stories in The Books of Blood - Dread, Human Remains and Pig Blood Blues. Bill Condon was attached to direct a wrap-around segment (The Book Of Blood and On Jerusalem Street) while three first-time gay directors had been given the reins to adapt and direct the three tales: Keith Clark worked on Dread, Jack Morrissey on Pig Blood Blues and Christopher Landon on Human Remains, taking over from Adam Cook who had worked on an early draft. The project was pitched as a gay art-house, horror movie, never intended to appear in your local multiplex.
Christopher Landon has been heard muttering darkly about Clive's drift away from being associated with outright horror and the project itself has fallen by the wayside - the final result being the loss of what had the makings of a truly hard-edged adaptation...

I have been working with Clive Barker recently on the Books Of Blood・ We’ll do a completely unrated, gay arthouse horror anthology without limits. We are trying to get something really disturbing. It could be great and I hope it works.・Considering that Barker’s publication of the same name is very dark and gory, and that most of his film translations had been watered down considerably by Hollywood studios, it is surely a project that will have horror fans salivating in anticipation.
